This book does a good job of explaining how a god is not necessary to be successful in AA. But I wouldn't say it's geared towards oldtimers. Much of the book is a basic explanation of each step that applies to every alcoholic regardless of higher powers. I really wish I had this book when I was|About the Author|The author is an atheist and member of alcoholics anonymous who has not had a drink for more than 17 years. While he has got the program in spite of the god references in AA's 12 steps and Big Book, he has encountered many agnostics and atheists
